Amanda McAllister mezzo soprano

Biography

Amanda is a graduate of the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music class of 2003. While attending the University, Amanda performed in various operas including a scenes program as Cherubino from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro in 2003, and the role of Javotte in Massenet’s Manon in 2002 under the direction of Daniel Helfgot. In 2001 Amanda was Suzy in Puccini’s La Rondine with director Matthew Lata. Also experienced in choral literature, Amanda’s credits include Stravinsky’s Les Noces, Bernstein’s Kaddish, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and a reoccurring soloist roles in Handel’s Messiah.

In the summer of 2006, Amanda was chosen from national auditions as one of 30 singers to attend the esteemed OperaWorks Summer Intensive Program in Los Angeles. While there, Amanda was cast as Le Noose in the world premiere of Trey Veet, Detective and the Curse on the High C’s, a partially improvised opera created with her OperaWorks colleagues under the direction of Ann Baltz and Eli Villanueva. Amanda recently performed as a soloist for Kansas City Metro Opera’s production of Handel’s Messiah. In 2005 she performed for Operakadopera as the Mother in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors directed by Susan Stone. She was also a featured soloist with Operakadopera in Caroline Baughman’s production, Summer Lovin’, in the summer of 2004.

The summer of 2007 took Amanda to Italy for Italian language school in Siena where she improved her language and sight seeing skills. Amanda resides in the Los Angeles area where she is a voice student with Kathleen Darragh and vocal coach Dan Bridston.
